Joseph Shieh, MD, PhD

Dr. Shieh is a physician in Medical Genetics and Genomics physician at the University of California of San Francisco (UCSF). He is the geneticist for the UCSF HHT Center of Excellence. He sees families at UCSF Medical Center and Benioff Children’s Hospital. He is also a Scientist Investigator at UCSF with laboratory experience. He has expertise in high-throughput sequencing, exome and genome data, variant interpretation, and informatics involving rare variants. His research group is developing new methods to integrate genomic data into clinical applications. Dr. Shieh has identified the genetic basis of pediatric and adult medical conditions and recently worked on cellular gene expression modulating strategies with his group. He also cares for patients in intensive care and for families with undiagnosed conditions.
