Since my appointment as Professor in Faculty of Pharmacy in the Hematology teaching unit and Inserm Unit UMRS 1140, I have brought a new research theme to my team following on my work experience on Hereditary Hemorrhagic Telangiectasia (HHT). This involves studying the role of an endothelial membrane protein, endoglin (Eng), in vascular remodeling, angiogenesis and human pathologies affecting the vascular system, such as HHT and other cardiovascular pathologies. In order to link this research theme to the topics addressed in the UMRS1140 unit, I chose to study the role of Eng in vascular remodeling and platelet aggregation. Thus, I recently reported a novel function of endothelial Eng in leukocyte-endothelium and platelet-endothelium interactions via α5β1 and αIIbβ3 integrins (Rossi E. et al 2013, 2018,2019,2022, 2023), pointing out a role for Eng in hemostasis.
