Mariona Graupera, PhD

Group Leader Endothelial Pathobiology and Microenvironment, Josep Carreras Leukaemia Research Institute

Biography

Mariona Graupera is a vascular biologist with expertise in signalling. Our research has identified key and selective roles of several members of the PI3K pathway including PI3K, PI3K and PTEN in vascular development and in pathological contexts (J Exp Med, Nat Commun, Clin Cancer Res and Sci Transl Med, Circulation, Nature Metabolism, EMBO Mmol Med). Her observations have represented a breakthrough in the field capitalizing the repurpose of PI3K for these diseases. The Graupera lab works in close collaboration with the paediatric clinicians at Hospital Sant Joan de Déu, Barcelona to apply her discoveries into the clinic to treat these patients. Based on her achievement in the field of EC biology, M Graupera was recruited as a senior Group Leader to the Josep Carreras Leukaemia Research Institute in February 2021.
