Biography

CA Franco graduated with Biochemistry in 2004 at the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Porto, completed a PhD degree with Honours at the University Paris VI in 2008, followed by a postdoctoral position in Holger Gerhardt laboratory, at the London Research Institute, between 2009 and 2014. CA Franco is currently a group leader at the Instituto de Medicina Molecular and an Invited Associate Professor at the Faculdade de Medicina da Universidade de Lisboa.

CA Franco laboratory aims to understand the principles governing the formation and function of blood vessels and to integrate these concepts to reveal the aetiology of human vascular disorders, such as stroke, atherosclerosis, arteriovenous malformations, and aneurysms. CA Franco laboratory investigates the fundamental mechanisms regulating the morphogenesis of blood vessels aiming at finding new ways to stimulate or inhibit vessel growth and function.
